Blue Herring Story

The Idea

Who would have thought that a trip to Latvia (a little country in Europe and the homeland of my ancestors) would set off a whole new adventure, taking me away from school teaching into a world about creating Australian made memories about Australia.
When I returned after two months overseas, I wanted to send my creative Latvian relatives and friends, some creative gifts about Australia. I was very hard-pressed to find anything that I liked.
So here began my little business at the St.Kilda Esplanade Market. I started with photographs about St.Kilda and calendars about St.Kilda. This has evolved into many photographs about Australia and Australian made products in the Blue Herring collectible range.

Blue Herring Style

I have always been creative and felt inspired by bright colours. That is why, with Nikon camera and sturdy tripod in tow, I set about exploring Melbourne, my home city, often in the twilight hours when the light is most beautiful.
I have hunted through the famous and infamous laneways and alcoves of Melbourne to capture the unique streetscapes of this city’s most amazing mural art, architectural achievements and hidden secrets.
My photographic themes include St.Kilda, Melbourne, Street Art, Australian Animals and now Australia itself. I have even taken photographic trips to the red centre (Uluru), the Twelve Apostles, Sydney and National Parks to bring you even more.
